By Their Fruits You Shall Know Them...
This Scripture has been coming into my mind lately because of an oddity I wanted to share with you. The tree pictured here is a dwarf apple tree that was planted on the campgrounds maybe 10-12 years ago and for the first few years, we didn't have any apples or very few. Then about 5 years ago we started having a nice crop of apples but this year it really outdid itself. We've picked over 1,100 apples (many as big as softballs) from it plus we lost over 300 falling on the ground and being ruined before we could get them all picked. 1,400 apples from this one little tree!! And the great thing about it, is that refrigerated, they will last until next August or September!! I smell a lot of apple pies and desserts in the camp's future!
Of course, we can make a spiritual connotation from this phenomenon… children may feel young and insignificant but don't give up, you can still be a great witness and bear lots of fruit!!! That's what WCCSC is here for, to plant seeds, nurture, and help children grow in Christ so that someday, they may too bear lots of fruit!!
Our campers have just 4 weeks left to register and pay the full fee in order to receive a free camp tee shirt when they attend camp. Since our deadline is May 1 and falls on a Sunday, any church that is collecting their camper's registrations to send in all at once should have them by Sunday, April 24, so that we can receive them by May 1.
Would you like to work at camp this summer in our kitchen, or as our "Nurse"? We will need to hire 2 assistant cooks for our kitchen to work with Duonna. You need to be a Christian and have basic cooking skills. We would prefer adults, but you must be at least 18 years old to apply. Married candidates are eligible if they live close enough to camp to be able to travel back and forth every day. If you could only fill in for a week or two, we might be able to arrange something! We will also need someone to fill in as our Nurse or First Aid Staff. We would prefer someone who is qualified as an RN, LPN, or at least a CNA. Again you need to be a Christian and have a good "bed-side manner"! Camp begins June 5 and runs through July 23, with a week off from July 2-9. The pay is good as we also offer room, board, Workman's Comp, and other benefits, as well as Saturdays off. If you have the summer free, love camp, are helpful and friendly…. you might be who we are looking for! Contact Duonna at the camp, (660) 347-5388 for more information and an application.
